Welcome to A WoodChuck’s Joy. This year has presented many obstacles, but I was fortunate enough to be able to start a small business. I really enjoy working with wood and other mediums that allow me to create functional art. The name, A WoodChuck’s Joy is derived from me, Chuck, and my beautiful wife and muse, Joy. I am the sole maker and designer, and I hope something you see will inspire you.

MacRoller

A two piece Rollerball pen made from Macassar Ebony. The rollerball style gives you the flow of a fountain pen with the ease of a ballpoint pen. The Macassar Ebony is native to Indonesia and is named after the Makassar port. This pen is finished with ten layers of cyanoacrylate.

Cococlassic

A simple slimline pen made from beautiful Cocobolo. The natural grains of this piece gave this pen an aged look. 10 layers of cyanoacrylate finish this beautiful pen off.

Grace

Another slimline, this one made from sustainably harvested Bethlehem olive wood. I love using olive wood because the grain just pops. The bottom is cut a little thicker for comfort. This pen will absolutely catch the eye. This pen is finished in 10 layers of cyanoacrylate.

Beach Day Custom pen

This pen is a blended maple burl and acrylic with the beautiful colors of the water. The thickness of this pen makes it very comfortable to write with all day. The weight tells you it’s built to last. A simple twist of the top and you have a writing instrument you can be proud to use.

Jack Daniels Cigar

A hefty cigar pen made from the stave of a barrel used to age Jack Daniels. Everyone knows that nothing goes better with a cigar than a good whisky. This pen is finished with 10 layers of cyanoacrylate, and is absolutely beautiful to the eye.

The mermaid

This pen is one from my mermaid series. A series of slimline pens made with hybrid maple burl and acrylic blend. It is finished with 10 layers of cyanoacrylate. In my mind these pens capture all of the best parts of key west. The bright blue see and all the colors of the sunset.

CocoMach

A custom made mach 3 razor handle. This one is made from Cocobolo. Cocobolo is one of my favorite woods to work with, since once you start cutting you don’t know what the grains will show you in the finished product. This handle is finished with a polish infused with lacquer.
