Beyond The Pallet

Creations by the hands of John Reshetar

I've just recently got involved in building to sell, so I'm fairly new at this. I used to scrap pallet wood by hand in order to make gifts for family and friends, but now I've progressed beyond that habit and now I create bigger and bolder creations. My projects range from small tea light holders to tables and benches. All material is recycled, reclaimed, and unique.

Composite Box

A unique box made from recycled, 100-year-old oak slats. Has two metal lattices on both sides to pear inside. Held together with wood glue; no nails, staples, or screws.

Oak Branch Candles

Salvaged cut pieces of oak from a torn-down oak tree. Fitted with a tea light 1 1/2"

Washboard Shelf

An old washboard converted to a floating shelf with hooks on the side. Contains a small hole in the back for hanging.

Large Washboard

A larger washboard now converted to a floating shelf with three hooks on the bottom and two tiered shelves. From Richmond, VA inscribed in the metal.

Square Tea Candles

A 4x4 single tea light square made from quarter swan oak. Can be turned over and used as a coaster!

Lion Box

A composite box all made from salvaged oak. Has two brass lion handles on both ends from an old dresser. Coated in gunstock stain.

Purple Heart Cutting Board

A food safe cutting board made from a solid piece of purple heart wood. Ha a hole at the top with a tassel for hanging. Hand wash only.

Black Walnut Candle Display

An interesting piece of salvaged black walnut that looks like fire or ice. Has two hooks on the back for a wall mount and three holes for candlesticks.

Pallet Wood Divider Box

A narrow divider box made from recycled pallet wood. Painted with a green exterior forest green paint.

Wine Bottle Rack

A simple yet solid wine bottle rack made from recycled red wine barrel staves and wine barrel lids. Designed to hold and display wine and champagne bottles. Each spacer is 3" wide. Can be carried safely with the bottles on top. Very solid. Held together with wood glue, wood pegs, and screws. Coated with a gunstock stain and tungoil varnish.

Table End Tea Light Holder

A different approach to my usual wood tea light holder. This one is made from two ends of a small narrow oak table screwed together. Very solid. Holds 3 1 1/2" tea lights. Held together with screws and wood glue. Coated with provincial stain and coated in tungoil varnish.

Floating Shelf

A rustic floating shelf made from a collection of recycled oak. Perfect for hallways, entryways, and bathrooms. Has a lot of good surface level for displaying items. Held together with antique straight-head screws and wood glue. Stained with a red chestnut color and tung oil. Contains a decorative key display in the middle. Has a back piece that screws into the drywall or wood paneling and the shelf fits directly over it. Comes with screws and wall anchors.
